Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving.
Christmas time is special at the Response to Love Center; this year will be no different. Sister Johnice is especially tuned in to what our people need, through prayer; she sees her mission is to respond where God is leading her. For the last few years, the focus has been on specific needs of our people. We have had diaper drives; last year was pillows and pillowcases. This year Sister is responding to the needs with a drive to provide a new towel, washcloth, and soap, calling it;
“Wrapped in Towels of Love.”
Our supporters have in the past, been so generous with these efforts because they have also seen the need, with Sister’s guidance. “Sometimes the simple things many of us take for granted are so much more important to people in need. Please consider helping us provide these simple things to the people we serve,” said Sister Johnice.

Sometimes when it rains it pours, that is what happened yesterday at the intake office at Response to Love Center. We had 3 new families come in to sign up for our pantry. None of these new families spoke any English. The challenge has arrived. However, God will always provide, and this time was no different. The families are from Burma and we happen to have Burma students in our advanced ESL (English as a Second Language) class. We asked for help from our students and they were eager to help. The look of joy and relief when the students came into the intake room and started to communicate with our new families was palatable. We really try to be accommodating and meet the needs of our clients, this time; with the help of our ESL students we’ve met that challenge

Sister Mary Johnice Rzadkiewicz CSSF nominated Canisius High School Campus Minister Father Fred Betti SJ for the “Touchdown for Teachers” award, sponsored by M&T Bank. Throughout the past 10 years Fr. Betti has been an inspiration and gift to the Response to Love Center.
Under his guidance and direction, the youth from Canisius High School, have served in the dining room, the pantry and thrift shops. Before, during and after the installation of the new elevator, hours were spent this year remodeling and moving the Center’s food pantry food pantry warehouse and dining room.
Father Betti was notified as one of the five finalists, and named as one of the four runners up, receiving $100 in grant funds for Canisius High School and two tickets to the Buffalo Bills draft party on May 8. As nominator Sister was invited as a guest to the Buffalo Bills draft party, held the UB Alumni Arena. The evening’s event was filled with thousands of Buffalo Bills fans who look forward to the new lineup for the upcoming year.
